Hott Bill that's exactly the reason I want Splinter Weapon back. It was one of the most enjoyable farms out there. I just want it back for farming's sake. But anyway...

- Oh I guess I have to wait. Hey, I got a neat idea. They should release some kind of triple-spell skill. You could add three skills which would cast with 1/4 delays, like Deep Freeze (1/4 seconds), Meteor Shower (1/4 seconds), Snow Storm (1/4 seconds). It should be coupled with those M-M-M-MONSTER KILL sounds from Unreal Tournament. Way cool dude.

Actually...no.
I see it as an opportunity for Izzy to be more free and frequent with balancing pvp skills now....his updates will add a more refreshing change from the FotM builds running in HA and GvG, without being a burden to the PvE players.
PVP won't be as stale as it has been.
I'm feeling positive about ANet's choice to seperate PVP and PVE.

I second that, you are an id....
Just kidding
Anyway IMO they are just giving it a test drive and making sure the process works. Once they see the skills work as expected between the two environments, then I would expect some big changes in both sets of skills, but a large amount in PvP skills.

Yet 18 months to 2 years ago, this split concept was the only way to SAVE the game, according to this community.
It's so easy to be swayed by peer sentiment.
Who made that great quote around here about "marrying and divorcing" their computer games?

Then, the next update can add a PvE version of Signet of Illusions that will scale the next 10 spells you cast between 0..10..20 based on your KoaBD rank. That way every class can a do Deep Freeze + Meteor Shower + Savannah Heat combo.

A large number of people were supporting the PvE/PvP split BEFORE they saw this update preview. I would estimate 1/3rd or less of players were actively against it at this time. That was until we got this update which sucked hard and is almost uniformly bad for PvE and does nothing at all for PvP that hasn't already been done and reverted before.
Hopefully Izzy will get his act together and put out GOOD updates that take advantage of the skill split, but this update definitely isn't one of them.

Meth, I'm imagining this is just the start of the split updates. Like they said in the preview, they didn't want to do too many skills to start off, and cause information overload.
People seeing it as sucky aren't seeing the bigger picture, because they didn't get their Paragon back, or XYZ skill back. There's more to come, so patience is required.
Which sorely lacks around here.

Hmm... they claimed they were going to revert skills back to old ways right? Then how come stuff like LoD still sucks and still isn't worth using?

You're wrong. PvE never affected what Izzy chose to balance in PvP. The only time they did something close to this was when they reverted the last skill balance after the monthly for PvE players. It took 3 years of whining for them to do this. PvP skill balances are going to be the same as they were previously, except the only difference is it seems that Izzy has no clue what the current meta is.

PvP versions are designed to target only specific skills. With such a system we can revert high-impact nerfs, such as Light of Deliverance and Defensive Anthem, to make them strong again in PvE.
|
Straight from the dev update of two weeks ago. Can't get much closer to saying "revert" than that.

Two different contexts. The revert from 2 weeks ago, was reverting skills that had been balanced for a tournament.
The revert Arkantos refers to is "Reverting skills back to their original status on day one of the game". And that's not going to happen.

No. the bit i quoted was in direct relation to the pve/pvp seperation. Not to the little april temp skill balance crap.
